Learn how to properly set up to record with your Veo Cam to achieve the best possible video quality. This guide covers everything from preparing your camera and environment to positioning your equipment and recording multiple games efficiently. Following these best practices ensures smooth recordings, accurate AI tracking, and a better overall experience with your Veo Cam.
Checklist before recording
- Fully charge the camera. We recommend at least 4 hours of charging before use.
- Install the Veo Camera app: iOS | Android.
- Ensure there is enough free storage space on the Veo Cam. You can check this by connecting to the Veo Cam through the Veo Camera app and going to the Settings page.
- Clean the lenses to remove any dust, fingerprints, or smudges.
Conditions
Before recording, make sure the following conditions are met:
- The pitch has clearly marked lines, and all four corners are unobstructed and fully visible to the Veo Cam.
- The pitch is well-lit, either with natural daylight or artificial lighting.
- There is minimal activity around the pitch. Extra players or balls can interfere with AI performance and Follow-cam tracking.
Setting up your Veo Cam
- Set up with the sun or lights behind the camera to avoid direct light into the lenses.
- Place the tripod 3–5 meters from the sideline, aligned with the centerline. For detailed instructions on setting up the Veo tripod, read this guide How to set up the Veo carbon fiber tripod
- Securely mount the Veo Cam onto the tripod. For Veo Cam 3, push in the small handle after mounting to ensure a tight grip.
- Turn on the camera and raise the tripod to its maximum height.
- Connect to the camera and ensure all four corners of the pitch are visible.
- Adjust the tripod if needed for better alignment with the centerline.
- Press the Record button and start capturing your match.
- After the match, stop the recording to finish.
Important note
Start recording only after setting the tripod to maximum height and aligning it with the centerline. Moving the Veo Cam after starting the recording can cause issues with AI tracking, reduce video quality and affect Veo Analytics and Player Spotlight results.
Recording multiple games
If you're recording multiple games during a tournament or event:
- Stop the recording after each game.
- Start a new recording for each game.
Note: The Veo platform does not support trimming recordings. Recordings over 8 hours may be rejected, and combining multiple games can affect AI features such as automatic highlights, Veo Analytics, and team assignment accuracy.
