A Guide to the G-Force Meter in Veo Cam 3

Each Veo Cam 3 is equipped with an integrated G-force meter that helps us assess the level of damage a non working camera may have suffered.

What is the G-force meter, and what does it do?

The G-force meter is a diagnostic tool built into the Veo Cam 3 that helps us determine whether the camera has been dropped or damaged or if something else is causing the device to not function properly.

It helps us detect if Veo is responsible for the issue and guides the next steps in resolving the problem.

How does the G-force meter work?

The G-force meter measures the acceleration of the camera if it's dropped. A camera is not covered by our right of claim policy if it's dropped from over 0.5 meters. The indicator will turn red if the camera is dropped from above 0.5 meters.

  • If the camera is dropped from:
    • Above 0.5 meters: The G-force meter will turn red, indicating a significant impact.
      • This is considered not covered by our right of claim.
The red indicator can vary in shade, depending on the impact. Any shade of red means the camera has detected a strong impact.
    • Below 0.5 meters: The G-force meter will remain white, indicating no impact.
      • This is considered to be a malfunctioning.

A more precise scientific explanation: A force of 1G is equivalent to a head-on impact at 35 km/h against a surface. Due to the camera’s design, it may land or be struck at angles that leave no visible damage on the casing. However, even if the exterior appears intact, the internal components will have inevitably sustained damage.

How does the G-force meter look?

The G-force meter is located at the bottom of the Veo Cam 3, just above the camera ID. It will appear either white or red.

White G-force meter:

A white meter usually indicates the camera has not suffered a fall or significant impact. If this occurs, the camera is treated as malfunctioning.

Red G-force meter:

A red meter indicates that the camera has experienced a fall or a hit. In this case the camera is treated as damaged.

What does it mean for the camera?

Red G-force meter:

A red G-force meter shows that the camera was dropped from a height that likely caused significant internal damage to its electronics.

The red indicator can vary in shade, depending on the impact. Any shade of red means the camera has detected a strong impact.

White G-force meter:

A white G-force meter shows that the camera was not dropped. This means the issue may be due to a malfunction rather than impact damage.
