Getting a reliable internet connection to livestream with a Veo Cam can be challenging. The strength of your connection depends on your data provider, location, and even the time of day. It's important to note that a good connection on your smartphone may not guarantee a stable connection for live streaming, as your smartphone primarily downloads data, whereas the Veo Cam uploads data.

However, we have several tips to help you optimize your connection and achieve high-quality streams.

1. Choosing the Right Connectivity Solution

Selecting the right connectivity solution is crucial for a successful stream. Our data shows a significantly higher success rate when using a SIM card or Ethernet.

Connection type Likelihood of losing internet
Smartphone as a WiFi hotspot Very High
SIM card (Veo Cam 2 and Veo Cam 3 5G) Low
Ethernet Low
WiFi High

SIM Card for Veo Cam 2 and Veo Cam 3 5G (Highly recommended)

We highly recommend purchasing a physical SIM card with a dedicated data plan. Data from Veo customers worldwide consistently shows that this option provides the most stable connection with the lowest risk of stream interruptions due to network outages. Note: Most providers require a dedicated data SIM card, different from those used in smartphones.

Ethernet (Recommended)

Using an Ethernet connection with a USB-C dongle can also provide a strong and reliable connection. However, it may be challenging to set up Ethernet in certain locations, especially during away games, so it may not always be the most practical option.

WiFi (Good in Certain Scenarios)

WiFi can be effective indoors with a strong signal and minimal interference. However, outdoor use or being far from the router increases the likelihood of connection issues.

Smartphone WiFi Hotspot (Not Recommended)

Using your smartphone as a WiFi hotspot may seem convenient, but our data indicates a high likelihood of connection loss during streams. In fact, you are four times more likely to lose internet connection using a smartphone hotspot compared to a SIM card.

2. Finding the Right Data Provider

After choosing a connectivity solution, the next step is to find a reliable data provider. The best provider can vary by location, and what works well in one area may not be suitable in another. While we can't guarantee a perfect match for every location, we provide general statistics on the best-performing data providers in each country. Check our list of recommended data providers here: Data providers and SIM cards for Veo Cam users.

Note: A 110-minute game requires approximately 7GB of data upload. Ensure your data plan accommodates your streaming needs.

3. Reviewing Data Insights from Past Livestreams

We recommend reviewing the data performance of your past live streams to gauge the quality of your connection. This analysis can help predict future success in specific locations.

To access your data performance:

  1. Go to app.veo.co.
  2. Click on Veo Live.
  3. Select Stream Diagnostics (available to Club Admins)

Here, you can view insights such as:

  • Frequency and timing of connection losses.
  • Upload speed throughout the livestream.

Characteristics of a Good Quality Stream:

  • Upload speed consistently above 5 Mbps
  • No disconnects

Characteristics of a Poor Quality Stream:

  • Fluctuating upload speeds, often below 5 Mbps
  • Frequent disconnects
